Chow Now

The Team
Christopher Webb
Co-founder & CEO

After ten years trading on Wall Street, Chris moved back to his hometown of Venice, California with one driving vision: build a tech lab that gives restaurants the tools to embrace the social and mobile era. As a founding investor of the popular LA-based restaurant chain Tender Greens, Chris saw firsthand the opportunity in the online ordering niche. When he’s not discovering new modes of public transportation in Los Angeles, he’s blogging for The Huffington Post, concentrating his analysis on the intersection of food and media. He’s always down to grab a coffee and on a constant quest to find LA’s best.
Eric Jaffe
co-founder & coo

Before co-founding ChowNow, Eric co-founded and operated a high-performing commercial real estate investment firm where he developed a nationwide portfolio. A nuts and bolts specialist, Eric currently oversees all company operations at ChowNow. When he’s not crunching the numbers, Eric is cheering on the Los Angeles Kings or playing chess while listening to the Grateful Dead. An avid outdoorsman, Eric has traversed thousands of miles of dusty and snowy trails around the globe and has been knocking off California’s 14ers since he was a young lad.

Josiah Carlson
Co-Founder & Chief Architect

After graduating Macalester College, Josiah went on to complete a Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science at UC Irvine. Not content with only theorizing, Josiah went on to work at Networks In Motion (now Telecommunication Systems), Google/YouTube and Ad.ly. Josiah is also a published author, with his book, Redis in Action, scheduled for print in January 2013. When he’s not working on writing his book, Josiah spends time with his wife preparing for his daughter’s imminent birth, reads whenever possible, and tries to spend the off weekend riding his motorcycle.

Lauren Sudekum
Corporate communications

Before starting at ChowNow, Lauren worked in Manhattan as the marketing and PR manager for one of the country’s largest catering companies. Lauren moved to Manhattan after living in Parma, Italy, where she studied at The University of Gastronomic Sciences and received her Master’s Degree in Food Culture and Communications. Having made it through 14 countries in 10 months while living in Europe, Lauren loves discovering hole in the wall restaurants around the world and new ways to travel on the cheap. When she’s not working or traveling, she’s on the quest for LA’s best hikes and/or tacos.

Michael Berman
director of sales

Michael started his career in commercial real estate, working with new restaurants and retail outlets throughout the United States. Realizing that real estate wasn’t fast paced enough, he started at OpenTable where he sold restaurant reservation technology in Southern California. A constant innovator, Michael helped introduce new products and found new ways to scale existing products. Nothing drives Michael more than closing a sale, building his team and watching the company grow. When he’s not working, Michael’s traveling the globe headed to the next great music festival.
